Description: Oats upma is a healthy and delicious dish prepared with oats, sooji and mixed vegetables. Its a one stop solution to prepare healthy, tasty and quick breakast/snack. My husband loves this dish as dinner when he wants to have something light and tasty.
Ingredients
Oats - 1/2 cup
Sooji/Rava - 1/2 cup
Onion(chopped) - 1
Tomato(chopped) - 1
Green chilli(slit) - 2
Ginger(grated) - 1/2 inch piece
Mixed vegetables - 1 cup (Capsicum,sweet corn, green peas)
Water - 2 and 1/2 cup
Vangibath powder/Bisibelebath powder - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds/jeera - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 1 tsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp (optional)
Salt as required
Oil as required

Method
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds chillies and curry leaves.
- Once the curry leaves and chillies stop spluttering add chopped onions, capsicum and ginger.
- Once the onions turn translucent, add sooji and oats. Meanwhile in another vessel add 2 and 1/2 cups of water and bring it to boil. You can boild frozen green peas and sweet corn in the same water.
- Fry till the sooji and oats turn light brown.Then add tomatoes and fry till tomatoes turn soft.
- Now add Vangibath powder/Bisibelebath powder, salt to taste and fry till oil starts leaving the side of the mixture.
- Add the boiling water with peas and sweet corn. While adding water stir the mixture continuously till the water is completely absorbed.
- Switch off the stove, add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.

Tips
- You can dry roast sooji and oats separately and store for quick recipie. And continue rest of the procedure as usual.
- You can add any boiled vegetables of your choice.
- Tastes best with pickle.
