Description: A famous Karnataka and Andhra dish, that can be served for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
A tasty alternative to dosas and idlis. It's my hubby's all time favorite.
Ingredients
Rice Flour - 2 cups
Onion (finely chopped) - 1
Carrot (grated) - 1
Green chillies(Finely Chopped) - 2
Coriander Leaves(finely chopped) - 1/4 cup
Jeera - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil as needed.
Method
- Add onions, carrot, green chillis, jeera, cilantro(corriander leaves) salt , 1 tsp oil to rice flour and mix well.
- Mix the above ingredients with hot water to form a soft dough.
- Take large lemon size balls of dough, grease a pan(tawa), keep the ball in the center and spread it with your fingers into a fairly large circle. Grease your fingers while doing it.
- Drizzle a little ghee or oil and cook on medium heat till lightly brown and crisp. Cook the other side also, using some more oil if necessary.
- Serve very hot with a pat of butter or some chutney
Tips
- You can add some more veggies like finely chopped cabbage or grated radish to make it more tasty and healthy.
- If you want crispy then heat the roti on low flame.
- This roti is soft for 2-3 hours. So try to consume hot, else it becomes a little harder.
- Wash and cool the pan before you make a second one or use another pan. Rotis turn out well when the pan is cool and clean.
